Early years

Taupau played junior rugby league for the Greenacre Tigers. He attended Endeavour Sports High School and represented the Australia Schoolboys team in 2008.

He made his first grade debut in 2010 and spent the 2011 season playing in the NSW Cup. He was named in the New South Wales Residents
