History

In the 1940s and 1950s Marredpally area was a dense forest with hills. In 1964 the first major development that spurred further development was the opening of the Shenoy Nursing Home which continues to this day.For the next twenty five years there was no other health related industry nearby. A lot of famous people were born here. There is a huge Buddha statue that brings serenity to the busy circle. During late 1950s government authorities constructed houses called TIT blocks and sold them at subsidised rates to Government employees. Large pieces of land near Geeta Nursing Home was sold to IAS and IPS officers and few other businessmen.
Other parts were developed by the then Military Cantonment Board and named as "Married Officers Colony". The name originates from Mared Palle. It was also home to many Anglo-Indians. It was Yadavs who used to be the landlords, but in the early 70s settlers ranging from Tamils, North Indians and Coastal Andhras, but most of these people were living here away from the maddening crowd and which was very beautiful and green environs making it a haven for morning walkers and senior citizens looking for some peace and quiet.

In the 90s, demolition of old ancestral houses that stood there for over 100 years and the construction of apartment complexes the erstwhile suburb became the hustling bustling hub of urban Hyderabad leaving little place for the very poor that lived next door in Addagutta. The land rates in Marredpally have risen and rich or old residents are now living in the suburb.
