Career

Fernandez's first pairs parter was Kristen Lambrinakos-Raymond, with whom he competed in juvenile and pre-novice pairs on the national level.

From 2003 through 2006, Fernandez competed with Jennifer Thibodeau, with whom he was the 2006 Canadian novice national champion. He has also competed as a single skater

Velenosi & Fernandez teamed up in 2006. They won a bronze medal on the 2006-2007 Junior Grand Prix circuit. They placed 6th at the 2007 Junior World championships. The team won the silver medals at the 2007 JGP Estonia.

Although they placed fifth on the day, they were later moved up a spot to a fourth place finish at the 2007-2008 Junior Grand Prix Final following the retroactive disqualification of first-place-finishers Vera Bazarova
