Among his duties as a popular representative chaired the Committee on Finance and Bugdet (Comisión de Hacienda y Presupuesto), besides being part of the Committees for Rural Development and Fisheries Development; Planning, Tourism, Economic Development and Human Rights (Comisiones de Desarrollo Rural y Fomento Pesquero; de Planeación, Turismo, Fomento Económico y de Derechos Humanos).

Mario Anguiano has also ventured into the private sector, serving as Director General of the Enterprise "Agrotechnology of Colima S.A. of C.V." (Director General de la Empresa "Agrotecnología de Colima S.A. de C.V."), during the period of 1999-2000.
