She was elected as the member for Girrawheen in 2001 and served as Government Whip and was Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Police, Emergency Services and Justice. During her second term in office she was appointed as Parliamentary Secretary to the Premier.

As Corrective Services Minister, Quirk received wide criticism in 2007 for her initial refusal to grant convicted heroin trafficker Holly Deane-Johns

Family

Born to parents Professor James Quirk and Helen Quirk with older brother Christopher Quirk. She currently has three nephews (Charles, Thomas and John) and two nieces (Eleanor and Anna).
