in an arranged marriage. She died in World War II during a bombardment. Like most women of the era, she was not given the opportunity to read or write. The arranged marriage lasted only briefly. When Chiang came back from Japan he divorced her. She stayed in her home town and was killed by the Japanese bomb intended for her ex-husband.
