Manvel High School opened in fall 2006 with the 9th and 10th grades. Manvel High School, Alvin ISD's second high school, relieved Alvin High School

 upon the opening. Darrell Alexander is the first principal of Manvel High School, being named to the position in July 2005. By Fall of 2008 Manvel High School opened up for 9-12th grades. The first graduating class was the class of 2009.
