The highway was built by Central Terengganu Development Authority (Lembaga Kemajuan Terengganu Tengah (Ketengah)) in the 1970s.

Features

At most section, the Federal Route 14 was built under the JKR R5 road standard, allowing maximum speed limit of up to 90 km/h.
