. Maja showed a preference for music at the early age. She inherited her singing gift from her father and mother. Her father, Novak has his own band and sings pop music, while her mother Slavica sings traditional music. Maja had her first public appearance at the age of 7, at the festival in Nis "May rose ", when she sang a duet with her brother and won first prize and earned her first salary. Her debut album was nominated for the best and most downloaded album for decade in Serbia. Her debut single, Srce od Plastike (The Heart of Plastic) was nominated and won the female Serbian song of the decade.

Recently, Maja was kicked out of a reality show broadcast on Pink TV for insulting Jewish community as she repeated that she did not like them. She could be charged for hate speech.
