There have been non-stop rows over Maiden Erlegh's catchment area, the children living on the edge of Reading have no access neither does Lower Earley. Wokingham Borough Council are making a fairer catchment.

Maiden Erlegh School is one of the highest ranked mixed comprehensive schools in the country.
In April 2010 Maiden Erlegh celebrated 25 years of German Exchanges with Gymnasium Schloss Overhagen.

Maiden Erlegh collaborates with local artists and has a gallery with regular exhibitions. The school has many links and collaborations with local and national business and encourages students to partake in a number of business competitions and challenges.
