, located in Vasundhara Enclave in the fast developing East Delhi area of the National Capital Region of Delhi.

Background

Maharaja Agrasen College was established in 1994 with the objective of catering to the educational requirements of the densely populated East Delhi area. The college is fully funded by the Govt. of NCT of Delhi. The college has now shifted to its modern and spacious building complex in 10 acres (40,468.6 m²) in Vasundhara Enclave, Delhi.

It has valuable infrastructural assets like a state of the art auditorium, a computer centre, fully computerized Library, well equipped laboratories, state - of - the - art conference hall etc. The new building complex has acquired several new facilities like an Information and Communication Technology Center, a Language Laboratory, Media Laboratory, Indira Gandhi Open University Center, University Grants Commission Research Center, and a Community Radio Station.

The college has a teaching faculty of 82 members, and administrative staff of 42 members. The college is managed by a Governing Body of 15 distinguished academicians under the Chairmanship of Sh. A.R. Verma.The college functions under the administrative and academic control of the University of Delhi as one of its constituent colleges.

In recent years the college has added several new services for the benefit of the students and teachers. An information and communication technology center has been set up in the college with financial support from the Govt. of Delhi. The ICT center provides back end services to all the major activities in the college. Thus, teaching administration, laboratories, extra curricular activities,sports,all are backed up by state of the art facilities at the ICT center.

The college has also established a language lab to provide language skills with the assistance of modern IT facilities. A community radio station, and a UGC research center to provide services to the disadvantaged sections have also been established very recently. The college publishes a social science journal 'Indian Journal of Social Enquiry'. The Department of Journalism publishes a quarterly practical newsletter 'Macroscope'.

An Electronic Data Processing cell has been created which shall function as a central data based management unit. It will provide an integrated office automation solution by installing a centralized server and networking localized computer clusters through it.

Add-on courses in news reading, anchoring and voice-over and cinematography offered by the college in association with HMS Films and TV Institute have become increasingly popular with our own students as well as outsiders. In collaboration with Wigan and Leigh College, the College has also made available add-on programmes in media, retail and graphic designing. The 6 Month add-on module offered by DOEACC is also running successfully in the College.

Maharaja Agrasen College is one of the few Delhi University colleges which conduct the 100 Hour bi-weekly English Language Proficiency Course – an initiative of the Institute of Life-long Learning, University of Delhi.
