The village of Madehurst is situated in two beautiful valleys. The view from near Dale Park Farm over New Barn Farm towards Parletts Farm is very pleasant and people often walk here. A favourite walk is to the top of the Downs at Bignor Post. The walk starts from Chichester Lodge (on the A29), proceeds along the footpath, continues through The Drove, New Barn and Parletts farms and finishes at Stammers.

The population is kept artificially small since no new building is allowed under planning regulations. Many of the inhabitants are retired or commute as far afield as London.
