The book, Madame Souzatzka is based on the experiences of Harold Rubens, child prodigy pianist, who studied with Levinskaya, from whom Souzatzka was created.
Harold Rubens was born in Cardiff, Wales, UK in 1918, to parents of Latvian descent. He studied with Levinska from the age of seven.

Availability

The film was released in U.S. theaters on October 14, 1988. Sometime after its theatrical run, the movie was released on videocassette by MCA Home Video in 1989. The movie has not been released on DVD in the U.S. and as of January 4, 2010, Universal Studios Home Entertainment
