. The overall site has planning approval for a total of around 80,000m2 of floor space in facilities ranging from four to nine levels on long-term leases or for owner occupation. The Research Park's aim is to become internationally recognised as a science and research park that fosters economic development through collaborative research and innovation arising from the successful interaction of higher education, commerce, industry and government. With the majority of tenants being large transnational corporations, the Research Park is funded entirely by the private sector . At present, the research park features 5 corporate buildings in addition to the Macquarie University Hospital
