The section between Highway 51 and M5 is to be renamed Highway 51 when a newly constructed and more southern section between both roads directly connects the old section to the new M5-M4 section of the M0. M0 currently shares a section with M5 and this shortcut will eliminate this shared section. This is currently scheduled for 2010. In the same year the southern section is to be upgraded to a six lane motorway. The section at the intersection with M6 is already six lanes wide .
