History

FC Lyubimetz was founded in 1921 as FC Maritsa. In 1947 the club had already been renamed FC Strela. The team finally became known as Lyubimetz 2007 in 2007-08 season.

Until 2008, Lyubimetz participated in either the third

 or the fourth amateurs divisions, but in 2007-08 the team were promoted for the first time to second division. In the first season in professional football, the club finished in 7th place.
