At the beginning of 2008, Waters auditioned for the role of Holly Cunningham in Channel 4's Hollyoaks. Prior to this audition, she had been offered the chance to audition for other productions, but declined. She was one of 54 candidates up for the role of Holly who had previously appeared in Hollyoaks between 1997 and 2001, with a return in 2004. After several auditions at the shows studios in Liverpool

 Waters won the role of Holly and began filming in April 2008. She made her first appearance on 9 June 2008. Lydia played Holly until September 2010.
Waters also appeared in the 2nd series of the Hollyoaks spin off series Hollyoaks Later in September 2009, playing Holly Cunningham. She also appeared in The Hollyoaks documentary, Hollyoaks: The Good, The Bad and The Gorgeous, in the parody of the SHINING playing twins.

Other information

Waters has also appeared on stage as Nagana in South Pacific and at the Grand Opera House in York. She has also appeared on stage at the Joseph Rowntree Theatre. She attended Copmanthorpe primary school until July 2009. She is currently in year 8 at Manor CE School
