Lothian is a rural community in southern Anne Arundel County, Maryland, 12 miles southwest of Annapolis, Maryland

In the 1950s, a bingo and slots machine parlor was opened in a warehouse at Waysons Corner, five miles west of Lothian but in the current Lothian postal zip code area. When gambling was outlawed in Maryland in the 1960s, Edward Wayson kept the bingo business running as Wayson's Bingo in a 750-seat hall.
