The Lorillard firm was founded by Pierre Abraham Lorillard

 in 1760. His two sons took over after he was killed during the American Revolutionary War

, and they moved the firm to the property in the Bronx.

It is on the grounds of the New York Botanical Gardens which is itself an NHL. It has been used as a a cafe as well as staff offices, and is now used for weddings and parties.
