London Shootfighters is a mixed martial arts
(MMA) gym and fight team based in London. Founded in 1997 by Alexis Demetriades and Paul Ivens, they are widely considered as one of the top MMA gyms in the UK and is highly ranked on the world stage. London Shootfighters is home to some of the UK’s top international level fighters such as James 'The Colossus' Thompson (PRIDE, Sengoku), Mostapha Al Turk (UFC, Cage Rage British Champion), and John Hathaway (UFC).
Whilst being highly regarded in the MMA arena such as the Ultimate Fighting Championships (UFC) and Cage Rage
, London Shootfighters also compete in all the individual components of MMA i.e. - Boxing, Wrestling, Kickboxing, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Submission Wrestling.
As well as a gym for professional elite fighters, they cater for the interested amateur fighter as well as people interested in fitness and self-defence, having over 300 regular members. The gym incorporates structured classes and personalised individual training.
Promotions and Management
London Shootfighters Gym is also highly involved in the promotion of Mixed Martial Arts Events having been running shows since MMA first gained its popularity in the UK. In 2004, they put on Extreme Force at Wembley, which was the first UK based show to take the sport out of night clubs and into the bigger arena, a pioneering act that other shows followed.
London Shootfighters also manages and promotes its fighters, dealing with large mixed martial arts shows all over the world such as the UFC, DREAM
and Sengoku all the way down to amateur shows at the grass roots level.
