They are originally Bhoites adopted their surname as Lokhande many generations back in the era of Bahamani Sulatanates of Deccan when Bhoite nobleman resisted to the armies of enemy showing courage as hard as iron ( Iron in Marathi stands for Lokhand ). Hence, further generation taken name of their valiant deed like iron caused their surname Lokhande.
