. Shows are broadcast live throughout the day from 10:00 till 00:00, and include a variety of shows with differing musical themes, currently with a predominant trend towards new music, (principally of an Indie & Alternative basis).

History

Livewire was first broadcast in the academic year of 1989/1990, opened by John Peel and is known as one of the longest running student radio stations.

Daytime

Daytime shows are broadcast up until 18:00hrs in the evening and feature more entertainment based content. From 17.30 - 18.00 there are feature shows lasting half an hour. These include the RecRoom, a campus-based news programme.

Specialist

Specialist shows run until midnight and focus on specific music genres; from rap to rock via jazz and folk.

Live Events

Aside from the radio broadcast Livewire has been responsible for a numerous amount of live events.

Hearing Aid

Hearing Aid is Livewire's Biggest Charity event. Held every year the most successful event in terms of fundraising was the 2009 event which at present has raised over £2,300 for Comic Relief

Unsigned

Unsigned is a Livewire run competition in which it aims to seek out the best unsigned band in the UK
