In March 2008, the band announced that anyone who purchased tickets to the concerts during the summer 2008 tour would receive a code to download a free live album of songs from the iTunes Store in mid-September 2008, following the tour from the tour. Anyone who purchased tickets from Ticketmaster

 would receive one code per ticket purchased. Following the tour, the album's track listing was eventually announced on November 11, 2008. Those who purchased tickets received a code via email two days later, on November 13, 2008, approximately one month later than its originally announced "mid-September" release. For those without codes, the album was announced to be going on sale to the public in the iTunes Store in the United States and Canada beginning in January 2009, however the album sale began in late December 2008.
