Little Lorraine is a Small fishing village located in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. It was founded in 1714 and has a population of approximately 62 people. It is 8.9 km away from the small town of Louisbourg, Nova Scotia. There stands a monument in place for the 500 Irish immigrants who lost their lives from a shipwreck on April 22nd, 1816. This ship was named Asterisk.
This was not the only shipwreck to occur in Little Lorraine. "The Irish immigrant ship Astraea ran aground at night May 8, 1834, and quickly broke up, killing 248 people. There were only three survivors — a surgeon, a carpenter and a seaman"
