have been played at the ground, the first of these was in 1959 when Pakistan played the touring Australian side. The ground has also hosted 58 One Day Internationals (ODIs), the first was in 1978 between Pakistan and England.
In 1959 Australian Norm O'Neill
became the first player to score a Test Century
at the ground, his innings of 134 was scored against Pakistan. Inzamam-ul-Haq
holds the record for the highest individual innings at the ground, 329 from 436 deliveries
. Inzamam's innings, made against New Zealand
in 2002, is the only instance of a triple century at the ground. Gaddafi Stadium has been the scene of 9 double centuries, the highest of these was 254 made by the Indian Virender Sehwag
in 2006. Sehwag's innings is the highest by a non-Pakistan player at the ground. Mohammad Yousuf holds the record for most centuries scored at Gaddafi Stadium by an individual player with 5. The Indian player Mohinder Amarnath
is the only non-Pakistani to have scored 3 centuries at the ground.
31 ODI centuries have been scored at Gaddafi Stadium. Zaheer Abbas
became the first player to score an ODI century at the ground. Abbas's innings, 123 from 87 balls, was made against Sri Lanka in 1982. Abbas also scored the 2nd and 3rd ODI centuries at the ground, the only other player to have scored 3 ODI centuries at Gaddafi Stadium is Mohammad Yousuf. Ijaz Ahmed holds the record for highest ODI score at the ground with 139 not out from 84 deliveries. The highest score by a non-Pakistani, 137 not out from 139 deliveries, was made by the Sri Lankan Tillakaratne Dilshan
