Ever since its founding in 1906, Sporting Clube de Portugal has had a total of 57 different presidents. To elect a president, Sporting Clube de Portugal paying supporters (also known as Sócios) vote in the ballots every time an election occurs. The first president was Alfredo Augusto das Neves Holtreman, 1st Viscount of Alvalade and the current is Luís Godinho Lopes, who was elected in 2011. The president who spent more years in his charge is João António dos Anjos Rocha, who served from 1973 to 1986, thirteen consecutive years. The most elected president is António Nunes Soares, Jr., being nominated a total of three times.
