Also known as Hogg Market, it used to be an upscale shopping area. It houses the famous Jewish Bakery, Nahoum. During Christmas, new market stores sell Christmas ornaments, fake Christmas Trees and fruit cakes which are traditional Christmas Day breakfast for Kolkatans of all religions. To reduce congestion in the area, an underground parking lot has been built there.
