History

Linden was established in the 19th century and named after the Linden tree. Downtown centers around the intersection of Broad Street and Bridge Street, where small shops, parlors, and restaurants lined the streets.

On May 18, 2007, a fire destroyed a block of businesses in the center of town on Broad Street. The fire devastated many citizens that cherished the historic feel of the city. However, on November 3, 2008, the LaFontaine family purchased the vacant space. They plan to develop it in the future.
