Lincoln is an evening-only law school. The school was founded in 1969 as an affiliate of Lincoln University

The law school was accredited by the Committee of Bar Examiners (CBE) of the State Bar of California

 in 1978, but has never been accredited by the American Bar Association. While CBE accreditation qualifies graduates for the California Bar Examination, lack of ABA accreditation affects the standing of graduates in other states relative to bar exams outside of California.

Teaching faculty at Lincoln Law School is made up of judges and practitioners from the Sacramento legal community.

Modernization

Various modernization projects were undertaken in 2008 to update several classrooms as well as the outside appearance of the campus. New classroom settings, including new projectors and screens were added in order to bring the classrooms up-to-date with contemporary technology.
