J.A. Krishnamoorthy (JAK), a renowned expert on cyclones, is settled in the US. When he comes to know that his daughter, Smriti, has met with a near fatal accident, he cannot stop himself from coming to India for his daughter. All that JAK knows is that his daughter met with a freak accident in a remote coastal town in Tamil Nadu called Minjikapuram. Police and doctor’s investigations all point fingers at a promiscuous Smriti.A determined JAK decides to trace his daughter’s path on the days that lead to her accident.

Thus starts JAK’s journey to know his teenaged daughter which leads him to three of her best friends, friends with their own muddled understanding of this girl who outwardly looked confused yet had her own stand on everything. Smriti joins a small theatre group and in all her naivete looks towards changing society and its mores which her friends could never come to terms with. But then ,at one point JAK’s search for truth reaches a dead end.

Meera, a socialite, finds her life thrown totally off balance when her husband leaves her for a younger woman. Left with the responsibility of sustaining her family, she takes up a job as JAK’s research assistant. Meera’s life gets intertwined with that of JAK’s as a series of coincidences lead them finally to Minjikapuram, that small coastal town where it all began. Here JAK realizes that it was not just another teenage relationship but a much larger issue, a social malaise that touched Smriti in such a way that she chose to fight it , the hard way.In that small town, when Smriti uncovers a scam that enourages female foeticide, the local mafia go after her.
