 stations. The station was located on the north side of Lea Bridge Road (A104) close to the junction of that road with Argall Way and Orient Way in the London Borough of Waltham Forest

The station was opened on 15 September 1840 by the Northern and Eastern Railway

. It was closed by British Rail

 on 8 July 1985. It was unstaffed around 1976 following which the original station buildings were demolished. The simple open-sided shelter present in 1985 on the road bridge over the tracks has also been demolished.

In December 2005 a new passenger service between Stratford and Stansted Airport reintroduced direct passenger services between Stratford and Tottenham Hale passing through the closed Lea Bridge station.

There are plans being considered to rebuild and reopen the station as part of wider plans for the redevelopment of the Stratford
