Laurence "Larry" Anthony McCarren (born November 9, 1951 in Park Forest, Illinois
) is a former American football
center who played for twelve seasons in the National Football League
with the Green Bay Packers
. He earned the nickname the "Rock" after he started 162 consecutive games, which is the team's fourth longest consecutive games start streak as of May 2008. He played in two NFL Pro Bowl
s in 1982 and 1983. He was inducted in the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame
in 1992.
In 1988 McCarren became the main sports anchor and sports director
