The Lansing Capitals are a charter member of the Independent Basketball Association
. Founded in 2006, the Capitals were originally members of the International Basketball League
. They played a full season in 2006 and a partial season in 2007. They did not play again until 2010 when they returned to the IBL as a "branding" team. They played in the 2010 spring and winter season and the 2011 spring season before leaving for the IBA.
