Lallaguda is a suburb in Secunderabad
, India
. It is close to Malkajgiri
. It is 7 km away from the city centre. This area is covered with railway quarters. Lallaguda is divided into south and North Lallaguda by the railway track dividing it. South Lallaguda was dubbed "Little England" ages ago due to it being the home of the Anglo-Indian Community.
A few years back, nearly hundred Anglo-Indian families lived in the Railway quarters of South Lallaguda along with ten Parsi families in one lane. Christmas used to be a carnival in this once quaint suburbs, which would be decorated with lights and stars throughout Christmas and new years.Now they are very few Anglo Indians but still there is a lot of love and music in the streets.
However, now over 60% of them have migrated elsewhere in the city and other countries such as England and Australia. The boom in real estate saw this once picturesque suburb being transformed into a concrete jungle.
It is completely a Railways area with quarters, workshops, Railway Hospital, schools, college (Junior and Degree), Officers club, Golf Course, function halls, handicrafts training center for women etc. It's a very good and peaceful residential area with many facities provided by the Railways for its employees.
