Lakhwinder Wadali hails from a family of illustrious musicians. His grandfather Thakur Dass Wadali was a renowned vocalist of his times and his father and uncle formed India’s most celebrated Sufi qawwali duo, the Wadali brothers. Lakhwinder, as he is lovingly known in the music fraternity, received extensive training and guidance in classical music from his father and guru Padamshree Ustad Puran Chand Wadali who belongs to the Patiala Gharana. His songs have unique blend of classical and current trends in music. His repertoire includes renditions of Sufi Saints, romantic folk numbers, ghazals, bhajans and bhangra. His style of singing is unique as it is a perfect blend of classical and contemporary music. Alaaps and taans are the vital aspects of his music.
