The corporation was responsible for the amalgamation of Durham health services under the Common Sense Revolution

It consolidated their holdings into five hospital sites - Lakeridge Health Bowmanville, Lakeridge Health Oshawa, Lakeridge Health Port Perry, Lakeridge Health Uxbridge and Lakeridge Health Whitby. Lakeridge Health Uxbridge was subsequently transferred to the Markham Stouffville Hospital Corporation in 2004.
