The mountains dominate the northern part of the municipality, with a valley consisting of farmlands and vacation homes covering the rest. Businesses and tourism are the most popular industry in Lagonissi after shifting from rural in the 1960s and the 1970s. Agriculture was formerly the main industry of Lagonissi, but continues today with farmlands covering much of Lagonissi. Later, Lagonissi became part of the Athens Metropolitan Area.
