Lady Blue is a fictional character from The Animals of Farthing Wood Television Series.

White Deer Park

Lady Blue was already a resident of White Deer Park when the animals of Farthing Wood arrived, she took a strong dislike to the foxes as, in her eyes, the park had never had anything so 'common' as a red fox before and she didn't want her family to associate with them

After reaching White Deer Park, Badger and Mole are the first to encounter Lady Blue when she warns them to stay off her mate's land. She points out that they are trespassing on the blue fox's land and that they have apply to her mate, Scarface, for permission to live on his land.

Family

Lady Blue was mate to Scarface, who in her own words held the 'true power' in White Deer Park even though the white stag was the leader of the park in title.

Early in season two, Lady Blue was the mother of at least three cubs. These three cubs were not seen or mentioned until the poachers arrived to the park and killed all three of them, fuelling the hatred of Lady Blue and Scarface who blamed the Farthing Wood animals for bringing the poachers to their home. Not long after the death of her third cub, Lady Blue had another set of cubs. The first two times the cubs are seen there are only two of them, an unnamed female identical to her mother and a dark blue cub with a black streak on his head named Ranger. However, when weasel of Farthing Wood later encounters, and is chased by Lady Blue, she is seen with a third cub identical to Ranger named Bounder. Later in the series the female cub completely disappears.

It is possible Lady Blue was mother to the two blue foxes killed in the farm raid during the winter of season two. In response to their deaths she says "my poor babies" - but it is uncertain whether she means them, or the cubs who will starve due to the loss of the chickens.

Scarface

Lady Blue loved Scarface dearly and openly bragged to other animals about how strong and powerful he was. In reality, Scarface could be quite cruel to her even when she was trying to be very kind to him e.g. when Lady Blue meets up with Scarface saying that she "wanted to see if you were alright", he angrily tells her to mind her own business and walks away when she starts crying.
Although he first seems proud of their second set of cubs, "better than anything that other lot could produce", he changes his mind in a later episode and says nastily "they've got your lily-livered blood" and growls at the cubs causing Ranger to cry.

When Scarface is killed by Adder, Lady Blue was devastated and weeps over his body. This was her last appearance in the tv series, and the last appearance of all blue foxes but Ranger.

Personality

Lady Blue viewed herself as being very high-class, being a blue fox, and couldn't stand that there would be red foxes near her land. Although not as outright violent towards them as her mate she genuinely supported the idea of eradicating the red foxes. Although her views on the Farthing Wood animals were obvious from the start they particularly came to light when she encountered Vixen and in this episode Blood is Thicker than Water this dialogue took place:

Vixen: What are you doing on Farthing land?

Lady Blue: What's it to you?

Vixen: Everything, are you spying on us or is this to be an attack?

Lady Blue: Which would you prefer, my dear?

Vixen: Are you threatening me?

Lady Blue: Me? What are you thinking of? I am no common red fox, used to brawling, I am Lady Blue, mate to Scarface.

Vixen: I know who you are and your airs and graces don't fall me.

Lady Blue: Insult me now, how dare you!

A violent fight occurred after this dialogue which lead to showing a very manipulative side to Lady Blue. Vixen tore off her ear and Lady Blue played up these injuries to her mate, claiming that the fight was completely unprovoked and that she was completely defenceless (she had actually violently bitten Vixen's chest causing Vixen to flee). Lady Blue had used the fight to force a showdown between Scarface and Fox, in the hope of finally ridding the park of the red foxes.
