The school was inaugurated by Mr. Prasanta Sur

The school first opened as a co-educational school. In 1981, the school was split up, and the campus at Block AD was converted into boys' only, and a new campus was opened at Block EC, also in Sector I, Saltlake City, as Laban Hrad Vidyapith for Girls.

The first Headmaster was Dr. Nalini Ranjan Sarkar. On 23 April 1980, Dr. Samarendra Kumar Jana took the responsibility of Headmaster, and Dr. Sarkar became the Assistant Headmaster. Till 12 May 1994, Dr. Jana was on that post. After Dr. Jana, the responsibility was handed over to Mr. Nripendra Kumar Saha, the teacher for First Language (Bengali

When the school opened, the uniform was sky-blue shirt and chocolate half-pants (Class VIII and below) or trousers (Class IX and X). In January 1985, the uniform was changed to sky-blue shirt and navy blue half-pants and trousers. A tie is not included. The student wears a circular school badge on the left breast-pocket.
