La Riposte

La Riposte is a French
Marxist newspaper that is affiliated with the International Marxist Tendency
. The newspaper is run by members of the French Communist Party
(PCF) and the Young Communists, and puts forward a Trotskyist programme. It supports the PCF electorally, but criticizes the "reformist" nature of its current program.
Its activists come, for the most part, from the French Communist Party and the Confédération générale du travail
. In addition to the publication of a monthly newspaper, they organise conferences and publish texts on a wide variety of themes.
La Riposte is particularly involved in the campaign to defend the Bolivarian Revolution
against United States intervention (the Hands Off Venezuela
campaign).
In discussions prior to the 34th congress of the PCF in 2008, La Riposte supported an alternative document titled "Renforcer le PCF, renouer avec le marxisme" which received the support of 5428 or 15% of voters. This growth in support for the ideas of La Riposte within the French Communist Party led the editors to add a subtitle to the paper, starting with the May 2009 issue: "The journal of the marxist wing of the PCF".
La Riposte is also the name of the newspaper of the International Marxist Tendency in Quebec.
