La Ganesan

La Ganesan is an Indian politician and senior leader of Bharatiya Janata Party
. He is president of the party at state level. He hails from Tamilnadu.
After completing his school education (11th Standard) Shri La. Ganesan joined Government service at the age of 16. For 9 years he worked in various capacities in the Settlement Department which is part of the Revenue Department. He resigned from his Government job to become a Pracharak (full-time worker) of the Rashtriya Swayam Sevak Sangh (RSS). In the RSS there are levels of specialised training. In 1959 Shri La.Ganesan completed his first-level training. In 1968 and 1969 he completed the 2nd and 3rd level training respectively.
He held the position of Nagar Pracharak of Nagercoil Town Unit until 31st May, 1970. He was then Tirunelveli Town Pracharak. From June 1972 he was Madurai Zilla (District) Convenor of RSS. In June 1974 he was elevated as Madurai Vibhag Pracharak (Convenor of the area stretching from Palani south to Kanyakumari).
During the 1975-77 Emergency he led an underground life for 20 months whilst campaigning against the undemocratic measures of Smt. Indira Gandhi. He was in the list of people to be arrested under MISA and carried a reward on his head for information as to his whereabouts.
In June 1978 he become Prantha Bouthik Pramukh (State In-charge responsible for evolving policies and preparing related literature). He later became Prantha Vyavastha Pramukh. (State in-charge of Planning).
From 1988 to February 1991 he held the position of Saha Prantha Pracharak (Joint Organizer of the State Unit of RSS) concentrating in the area stretching from Trichy to Kanyakumari.
In 1991 Shri La. Ganesan became the State General Secretary in charge of organisation of the Tamilnadu BJP. As General Secretary of the Party in Tamilnadu Shri La. Ganesan spear-headed the expansion of the party. When Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu became National President, Shri La. Ganesan was included in his team as National Secretary.
An excellent organizer and powerful orator, Shri La. Ganesan is also a writer and poet. He has authored articles on issues of national concern and penned several patriotic songs.
