 imposed a suspension on the committee with effect from 1 January 2010 due to alleged interference from the government. KUW had failed to meet the IOC's December 31 deadline for amending government legislation that permits the Persian Gulf state to interfere in elections of sporting organisations. As a result, it is currently not receiving any Olympic funding and both its athletes and officials will be banned from Olympic Games and Olympic meetings.
