Komaram Bheem is a tribal leader who fought against the erstwhile Asaf Jahi Dynasty for the liberation of Hyderabad State
.
On December 17, 2009, it was announced that a statue of Bheem would be installed in Hyderabad.
Bheem was born in a family of Gond Tribals in the forests of Adilabad District
in Telangana
region of Andhra Pradesh
. He was not exposed to the outside world and did not have any formal education.
Komaram Bheem fought against the cess that was by the Nizam government. He defied courts and the law, choosing to depend on the forest. He took up cudgels against Nizam Nawab's soldiers, and fighting Babi Jhari, he breathed his last.
He has given slogan of Jal, Jungle, Jameen ( It means Water, Forest, Land). It means the people who live in forests should have the right on all the resources of the forest.
