Musical career

Kollegah began recording in 2005 and released his first mixtape, Zuhältertape Vol. 1 (engl: Pimptape vol 1), which was available as a free internet download. In 2005 he signed to Selfmade Records

, where he re-released his mixtape, now titled Zuhältertape X-Mas Edition.

On July 9, 2006 his second mixtape, Boss der Bosse, was released. Most of the album's instrumentals were produced by Rizbo.

His first solo album was planned to be released in September 2007 but was postponed due to a lawsuit against Kollegah. Eventually it was released on 16 November 2007. A music video for the song "Kuck auf die Goldkette 2007" (engl: Look at the gold chain 2007) was produced. It premiered on October 23, 2007. It reached 1st place on the German MTV-Show TRL Urban
