The beach also have a park with international standard. The Mahatma Gandhi Park was inaugurated on Jauary 1, 1961 by the then Vice President of India, Zakir Hussein.

Kollam Port

Kollam was one of the oldest and most important port for international cashew trade on the Malabar coast of the Arabian Sea. Kollam was once a favorite settlement of the Portuguese, the Dutch and the English in succession before Independence.
