The other co-tribe in Kohlu residing since before the time of Aryans is Zarkoons. Their connection goes back to the Germans of the time. Zarkoon is a peaceful tribe although for some time involvedin defensive wars against the co-tribe Murree/Bugti on land and other disputes. However the Chief in early 1900s Sarda'r (Chief) Azad Khan Zarkoon, father of Rasool Khan Zarkoon, turned the tables. He happened to be different amongst his brothers and strongly believed that ongoing wars for decades would only bring home more dead bodies and misfortune. He sent his youngest and most clever son, who had inherited his father's peace gene, Rasool Khan, to the neighbouring district Loralai for basic education as he discovered this love of learning and progressing in him. He was also worried about losing Rasool Khan in the baseless ongoing wars.
Rasool Khan would go to Loralai, about 30 miles away from home, on horses and on foot but would never give up School. Later Dad sent him to Quetta for further studies and finally after completing his Engineering degree he travelled across the country all the way to Karachi where he met an Indian Business family from Mumbai. The Belgamwala brothers hired him for their private business and being impressed by this young lad's honesty and hard work, married their youngest and most beloved sister Khairun nisa to him.
Rasool Khan and Khairunnisa(he named his bride Parween) moved to Quetta and had six children. Nasser Khan Zarkoon being the eldest who followed the footsteps of his father and the wishes of his grand father and topped in Royal Naval Midship men's training at Dartmouth UK in 1978. He was given the award of 'Hero of the Exercise' as he saved a British exercise colleague's life by jumping after him in the cold waters in December, but later lost his own life in another Naval accident at age 22. His younger sister Dr. Henna Khan later followed and completed her Membership in Obstetrics & Gynaecology from the Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists London & joined various local peace, faith & interfaith organizations including the chairmanship of a local standards committee in a UK Council & Vice President of a local body Pakistan Welfare Association in the Royal County as well as Vice Chair of a local interfaith organization. Her children in turn studied higher degrees in various colleges of London to serve as peaceful citizens working to build better Britain where they live. The history of Zarkoons took such a turn by one man's faith and passion for peace and education. The rest of the brothers & sisters also did well in their fields. Rasool Khan's sons in law also served in Pakistan and Britain as Naval officers, Doctors and Airline officers, bringing fame and dignity to their country of origin in the times when Muslims are being blamed for destruction otherwise. Nobody can deny Khairunnisa's contribution to all these achievements, this brave and courageous as well as extra ordinarily clever daughter of India's well-known and honest, a high achiever businessman, Seth Alladin of Belgam (the hill stations of Mumbai) , as she stood sternly & lovingly by Rasool Khan through rough and tough times.
The present Chief of the Zarkoons, Sardar Hashim Khan Zarkoon is the eldest grand son of Sardar Azad Khan Zarkoon and is well-known for his love and passion and most of it, the justice for his tribesmen. Even the people from Murree tribe often bring their disputes to him for justice and call him 'the fair chief'.
