According to historians, the village was mentioned for the first time in 1385 and the name of the village means "Great Battle". It was known "Svetigrad" before finally Ottoman conquest in 1448. Kodžadžik is known for the fact that the house of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk
's parents is located in the village. A Memorial House of Kemal Ataturk is currently being constructed in Kodžadžik.
