Kirksville was hit with what is believed to be an EF3 tornado around 5pm Friday, May 8, 2009. Town has been "decimated" as per account in Lexington Herald Leader article on Saturday, May 9, 2009.

UPDATE: Tornado was confirmed as an EF3 on Tuesday, May 12, 2009. "It reached its strongest point, with winds possibly exceeding 200 mph, near the point where it tossed a mobile home into a pond, killing two people."
