History

Kirby Muxloe Football Club was founded in 1910. The club has been active ever since - with the exception of the war years. After the Second World War in 1947, they joined the Leicester Mutual League and remained there for many years. In 1972 the football club amalgamated with the local cricket club to form Kirby Muxloe Sports Club with a new clubhouse on Ratby Lane built entirely through the efforts of the local community.
Two years later in 1974, the club joined the Leicester City League where they remained for eight seasons until their application to the Leicestershire Senior League was accepted in 1982. In five seasons they found themselves in the Premier division following their third
place in division one. The step up proved to be too much for Kirby and two seasons later they were relegated back to division one.
The current manager - Gary Keenan was appointed for the 1989-1990 season and within five seasons the club were back in the Premier division after winning the division one title and the Coalville Cup. In the season of 1997-1998 Kirby on the Battle of Britain Cup and were
runners-up in the league, the same season saw Kirby venture into the FA Vase for the second time in the clubs history. The club erected floodlights in the 1997-1998 season and constructed an all-weather floodlit training pitch in 1999. The 2003-2004 season saw Kirby again finish runners-up to Loughborough Dynamo. In the 2005-2006 season Kirby reached the final of the Leicestershire County Cup only to lose to
Friar Lane Old Boys after extra time. For the 2006-2007 season Kirby made amends by reaching the final again - this time beating Ibstock Miners Welfare 3-2 and again finished runners-up in the league. In the 2007-2008 season Kirby won the Premier division scoring over 100 goals on the way.
The 2008-2009 season sees Kirby joining the newly formed East Midlands Counties League. Ex Players of Kirby include, David Speedie
