Joiner was part of the Fiesta Bowl Queen and Court in 2006-2007, serving as a spokeswoman and ambassador, in addition to being involved with Special Olympics and Best Buddies Arizona since high school. She went on to represent Arizona in the Miss USA 2008

Joiner is currently a certified K-12 Special Education Teacher, after graduating magna cum laude from Arizona State University
in 2006, where she received a full tuition scholarship granted for community service, financial need, and academic achievement. She attended Highland High School
